In the headlines:

  • Delta Airlines is now promising to get your checked bag to the baggage claim carousel within 20 minutes or they’ll give you some extra miles. Dana has her suspicions.
  • Ashton Woods Homes is planning a new urban-style, live-work-type community in Sandy Springs… right next to the new planned Mercedes Benz headquarters. Great for Sandy Springs. Not so great for GA 400 commuters. Just sayin’.
  • Speaking of new builds, a company called Great Wolf Lodge is planning a water park resort in Peachtree City… if they can get the zoning approved. Neighbors are not so into the idea, as you might imagine.
  • More Nobel Peace Prize Summit gossip. So, the kids are fighting – the kids being the City of Atlanta and event organizer, Mohammed Bhuyian… now Mom and Dad have stepped in. The Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates decided to convene a meeting of the Nobel Peace Laureates to try to settle the controversy. It’s happening May 2nd and 3rd in Rome, Italy. Sheesh. Maybe the world’s best peacemakers should focus on something more important. Like peace.
  • A new study of business expense reports shows that in some cities, more business people are using Uber than taxis. In other cities, while not yet in the lead, Uber is making major headway. The real question is, if they have to raise prices to cover the costs of operating fairly (under the same regulations as taxis) will they still grow at the same pace? Dana’s all about paying for convenience and/or a good service, but also likes to do business with people who play fair and have a good moral and ethical code.
