The Business of Health & THE SELL

In the guest chair:

Thomas Joseph & Dana Barrett

Thomas Joseph & Dana Barrett

Dr. Thomas Joseph, orthopedic surgeon at Freedom Orthopedic and Rehab, joined Dana in studio to discuss direct pay and owning your own practice in the healthcare field.

Fredrik Eklund, host of Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Listing New York, called in to the show to discuss his new book, The Sell: The Secret to Selling Anything to Anyone.

Freedom Orthopedic and Rehab focuses on patient care by avoiding the distractions of third party payers, instead using direct pay with a simple, affordable payment at the time of service. This allows doctors to focus entirely on the patient.

In the headlines:

  • Nobel Peace Prize winner, Muhammed Yunus has made kind of a stunning move. He has resigned from the board of Yunus Creative Lab… the organization responsible for planning the Atlanta event. Apparently, many of the comments that have been attributed to him throughout this saga were not actually made by him and he feels that the group (which bears his name) has misrepresented him. Yikes. This could leave the door open for a new alliance between Yunus and Mayor Reed, but there’s one problem… Yunus Creative Labs has already collected around $3 mil from companies wanting to support the event.
  • As Centennial Olympic Park nears its 20th birthday, an effort is underway to raise $46.5 million to enhance downtown’s premier gathering space, one of the most catalytic legacies from the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. The Georgia World Congress Center Authority is currently assessing whether or not there is enough interest to move forward. The plans include buying some surrounding property and expanding the park, as well as adding new attractions and expanding the amphitheater.
  • Krystal Co., the Atlanta burger chain that was making sliders before they were chic, has launched a new ad campaign aimed at millennials. Here it is… “Krystal. Stupid good.” Dana kind of loves this.
  • Northside Tavern will continue being the coolest place to hear blues in the city. They just narrowly avoided a new development on the westside that could have gobbled them up.
