Venture Atlanta Executive Director, Allyson Eman and Chair, Blake Patton joined guest host, Eric V. Holtzclaw in studio this morning to discuss this year’s conference and 2015 slate of companies.

Held at the Georgia Aquarium on October 20 to 22, 2015, Venture Atlanta is the premier technology conference in Southeast. More than the 800 technology entrepreneurs, investors and senior technology executives from across the country connect at what is considered to be a “destination” for discovering tomorrow’s big technology and healthcare breakthroughs. Venture Atlanta was created by the vision of three founding organizations: Atlanta CEO Council, Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Technology Association of Georgia.

In the headlines:

  • Dunwoody is proposing a $20 million connector along the Atlanta Perimeter where State Farm Insurance Co. is building its 8,000-employee regional hub and where millions more square feet of office, retail and hotel development could be in the offing.
  • Atlanta’s Bitpay got hacked for $1.8 million in bitcoins.
  • Shipt LLC launched its on-demand grocery delivery service to all Atlanta customers today and will hire 300 shoppers for the expansion.
  • Google Fiber has picked Atlanta as the site for a national training center.
  • Google Inc.’s troubled Glass connected eyewear project is getting a new name, and a new lease on life. The Glass team, now called Project Aura, has been hiring engineers, software developers and project managers from Lab126, Amazon.com Inc.’s hardware-focused research division in the Bay Area.
  • Tech Firms are venturing into new territory: lending.
  • iRobot’s Roomba 980 can map your home via camera and takes smartphone commands.
