In the headlines:

  • The Atlanta Streetcar Debuts, somewhere unexpected. Times Square in NYC. It’s part of an ad campaign called Downtown Atlanta is on the Move. Downtown Atlanta and the Atlanta Streetcar will be prominently featured on the ABC SuperSign in the heart of Times Square in New York City.
  • Lower wage workers in Atlanta and around the country went on strike yesterday in their ongoing quest for better pay. The “Fight for $15” campaign called for fast-food workers and other service industry employees to walk off the job in protest and local rallies were set for College Park and Clark Atlanta early Wednesday morning.
  • NCR has launched a game changer for banks. It’s new software for ATMs called Kalpana, moving software and operations for the machines to the cloud. NCR says that this is the biggest change in ATM operations since the machine’s invention 50 years ago and can reduce the cost of running an ATM network by up to 40 percent.
  • An Atlanta Braves Executive has suggested that fans should maybe think about riding their bikes to the new Cobb County stadium. Mike Plant said Tuesday at a Kennesaw Business Association meeting, he hopes local community improvement districts will consider extending their biking trails toward the stadium and he hopes people will use them to come to the games.
